Stria vs Boundix: limits, reminders, or cash
Stria vs Boundix at a glance
Stria — Scope, sign-off and billing as one record — every client request judged against a locked baseline, and a tamper-evident approval you can export.
Boundix — A low-cost scope tool whose revision caps auto-create a change order, with payment reminders described on its site.
The short version
Boundix is the better buy on price, and the $199 lifetime option is unusual — if the product fits, that is a one-off cost against a subscription forever. Its site describes creating the change order and chasing payment; it does not describe issuing the invoice. Stria closes that last step, and holds the sign-off as tamper-evident proof.

Choose Stria if
You want the invoice issued and the approval provable, not just the change order raised.
Choose Boundix if
You want the cheapest route to automatic change orders, or you would rather buy once than subscribe.
Freelancers who lose money twice — once to extras, then again to unpaid invoices — will land
on Boundix. We fetched the live page. Here is the useful version, including the parts that
favour them.
The short answer
Boundix is a revision-limit and payment-reminder tool. You define deliverables with a
revision cap, the client approves through a link with no account, extras past the cap become a
change order, milestones trigger when work is approved, and reminder emails go out at 3, 7 and
14 days overdue. It is built to stop "one more round" and "I'll pay next week" in the same
product.
Stria is a system of record for the request itself. The agreed scope is locked and
versioned. Forwarded client mail and a selected Slack channel are judged against that version,
and a priced change order is the start of invoicing rather than a reminder that an invoice
exists somewhere else.
If your leak is extra rounds and slow payers, Boundix is aimed at that and it is cheaper. If
the leak is extras you never logged, keep reading.

Where Boundix is the better choice
- It costs less. Pro is $12 a month billed monthly, or $99 a year. Stria opens at $19.
There is no reading of these two rungs where Stria is cheaper.
- A standing free tier with two live projects. Scope tracking, the client portal, change
orders, milestones and the 3/7/14-day reminders are all on Free. That is enough to run a
real engagement before paying.
- Revision limits that block work. When the included rounds are used up, Boundix creates
a change order and, per their FAQ, blocks further revisions until the client approves. Stria
refuses an over-budget revision round unless you override it — similar idea, different
surface — but their per-deliverable counter with a client-visible "limit reached" state is
the clearer version of this specific leak.
- Payment reminders on a schedule. Automatic emails at 3, 7 and 14 days overdue, escalating
in tone. Stria has a dunning ladder on Stripe invoices; Boundix is nagging a milestone the
client already approved, which is a different and useful job if collection is your actual
problem.
- A lifetime buyout. $199 once, all Pro features, no monthly fee. For someone who hates
subscriptions that is a real offer and we do not have an equivalent.
Where Stria is the better choice
1. Somebody still has to notice the extra
Boundix tracks deliverables you defined and flags over-limit revisions. The expensive extras
are often a new page, a new integration, a "quick Shopify embed" — not a fourth round on a
deliverable you already listed. Their change order for additional revisions is excellent at
the leak it names. It is not a judgement on a client email you have not filed.
Stria detects an out-of-scope request inside forwarded client email, with no mailbox to
connect, and watches a selected Slack channel without workspace-wide message access. It
determines scope on every client comment, not only the ones already sitting in a revision
queue.
2. A reminder is not an invoice
Boundix's own wording is that it automates payment reminders and shows payment status. The
page does not describe issuing the invoice, collecting on Stripe, recording a partial, writing
off a balance, or syncing a ledger.
Stria issues the invoice — including for a client with no project and no deliverable —
records partial payments, runs a dunning ladder and a late fee on a Stripe invoice, and syncs
invoices, payments and reconciliation with either Xero or QuickBooks Online, one ledger at a
time. Collection is on your own Stripe with no platform fee.
3. The verdict cites the scope
Stria returns one verbatim citation from the scope it judged against. Boundix generates PDF
scope agreements and an activity audit trail, which is a different artefact: a document of
what was agreed, not a sentence attached to this morning's request. Both are useful. Only one
of them can be pasted under a client message that says "I thought that was included."
You can see the citation with no account on the free scope check.
4. Price, stated fairly
Read from each vendor's own site on 1 September 2026. Boundix's Pro monthly figure is
published as $12 in the page's SoftwareApplication JSON-LD (the visible price node rendered
as a bare dollar sign in the HTML we fetched); $99/year and the $199 lifetime plan are in the
visible copy and FAQ.

How to decide in ten minutes
- Was last year's leak extra rounds, or extra deliverables? Rounds: Boundix. New work you
never wrote down: a logger will not help, and Boundix is a logger with teeth.
- Do you already invoice somewhere you like? If yes, $12 for revision caps and reminders
is the cheaper specialised buy. If the invoice is the part that never goes out, reminders
will not create it.
Moving over
There is nothing to import from a scope tool, so this is the easy part — what you carry over is
your client book, not your scope history.
Import clients, projects and unpaid invoices from a CSV export — HoneyBook, Bonsai, Dubsado or a
spreadsheet. Columns are matched by name where we recognise them, split first and last name
columns are joined, and anything we cannot place is listed for you to point at a field before a
single row is written. The preview tells you how many clients are new and how much is already
past due.
Where to start
Stria is open. The free plan carries three clients and six deliverables a month and needs no card,
which is enough to put a real project through before deciding.
